I just saw a scan of the latest MS ad which was ordered to be pulled by the South Africa's ASA. The scan showed a dodo, a wooly mammoth, a sabertooth tiger and a "hacker". Here's the caption below the ad:
'Microsoft software is carefully designed to keep your company's valuable information in, and unauthorised people and viruses out. Which means that your data couldn't really be safer, even if you kept it in a safe. Which is great news for the survival of your company. But tragic news for hackers.' The ad was pulled out for being "unsubstantiated and misleading" after an independent journalist complained that the ad is untrue and that MS software is well-littered with vulnerabilities, and mentioned that such claim is indeed "laughable." As of the present, MS is well on its way to have an independent body certify Windows XP professional and 2003 Server against the common standard that its software is indeed secure and would live up to this claim. The said ad was supposed to be released in South Africa's business publications prior to it being ordered to be pulled out by the ASA. -- Paolo Alexis Falcone [EMAIL PROTECTED] _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
