My own take on this is Lindows used less-than-cutting-edge components to 1) lower costs and 2) demonstrate that GNU/Linux doesn't need high-end equipment to perform adequately. Although it's probly primarily 1) <g>. Speaking of "high-end" equipment, my MPlayer complains that my CPU is too slow (!) to play VCDs >:( I've got a 266MHz K6-2 w/c was all I could afford two or three years ago. I may go with an Athlon or a P-III next time 'round. Any recommendations on min CPU clock speed? And no, I don't need no steenkin' lecture on how Athlons outperform similarly clocked Pentiums ;-) Mabuhay. _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
