hello all,

I have a Dell laptop with a Sony CRX 700E CD-RW drive.
At one point i was able to consistently write to CD-RW (not
CD-R). Writing to CD-RW on Windows is fine. I can't work
in Windows (dual-boot for the sake of one game only) though
because there isn't enough space there for the files or ISOs
I need to write.

On Linux (Mandrake 9.0, mostly stock with some security
updates) I can't write. Or sometimes I can (at one point I
could write to CD-RW consistently) and sometimes I can't.

These days (three weeks or so since I was able to write
to CD-RW), it mostly fails, and when it succeeds, it's after
some weird sequence of events that just makes no sense.

I'm in the process of trying to write to CD-RW using lots
of different settings. If anyone else has seen this though,
or has ideas on things to try, I'd be grateful.
