Hello X experts, I can't find mailing list info on this. In any case, since I have 32 MB of VRAM (taken out from 256 main), shouldn't the SIZE be closer to 32? Or is it considering the main memory since it's shared?
How do I know for sure if the memory counts reported by /proc/PID/status (which is used by 'top' and 'ps') refer to RAM and not VRAM? ----- Forwarded message from Thomas Winischhofer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ----- Miguel A Paraz wrote: > Hi, > I'm using your driver on the embedded 650 on an Asus Degatto. > It's using 32 MB shared from system memory of 256 MB. > Machine details are here: > http://servlet.techscene.com/roller/comments/mparaz?anchor=linux_on_an_asus_degatto > > It's working great except for the memory consumption: > PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME CPU COMMAND > 3614 root 19 0 188M 136M 104M R 2.3 62.4 230:34 0 X > > > Are there any tips for reducing this, or is it because of the > system architecture? Thanks! The SiS driver does not use ANY memory. The memory listed here includes the mapped video RAM. Please search the mailing list archives on www.xfree86.org, the inaccuracy of such measurements has been discussed in detail.
