Thanks for replying to my call for help, anyway, i've tried issuing the command that you suggested and this result was returned:
CPU0 0: 165101 XT-PIC timer
1: 750 XT-PIC keyboard
2: 0 XT-PIC cascade
8: 1 XT-PIC rtc
9: 0 XT-PIC usb-ohci, usb-ohci
12: 3966 XT-PIC PS/2 Mouse
14: 7765 XT-PIC ide0
15: 142 XT-PIC ide1
NMI: 0
ERR: 0
To be honest, I'm not sure what the significance this information have with regards to my problem. Please do advise.
the above info indicates the IRQ that is being used by a device and any conflicts thereunto that will result to: "...resource busy...." and it seems like the device is absent (no eth0 !!!)
have you tried loading the kernel module for your NIC??
ie.
shell> modprobe sis900before issuing a "ifup" or
shell> ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.123 up
