Hello,

Anybody interested in long-range 802.11b experiments & connections?

I'm located in the hills overseeing calamba, binan, laguna technopark,
carmona, liip, laguna bay, and the mountains near pagsanjan & caliraya.
when the atmosphere is clear the Viviere and Insular Life? buildings in
filinvest, muntinlupa are visible too. there are many subdivisions (sta
rosa estates 1-5?, belair, westgroove, etc etc etc) in the valley below
so it'll probably be profitable too.

probably if your in near UPLB and you can see the People's Palace in the
Sky, you can see our place too.

since the NTC has opened up the 2.4Ghz for the average people i propose
that we create our own free/cheap Wide Area Network for the benfit of
research, experiments, and fast interconnections between academic,
commercial, and residential communities.

what do you think?
...

and anyone who has the spirit of amaturista is highly appreciated to help me
get the signal up to the roof of our library building. i'm not sure if
it is the connector, cable, antenna, or all which is/are bad.

i'm using a DWL-520 PCI card (22mbps max) and a MA-101 USB (11mbps max)
in my first tries.
