If the binary drivers costs twice as much as the real modem, just add a
little more money and you can buy one of those cheap external modems.
They're more reliable than those Win/Lin Modems. And they're guaranteed
to work with all OS as long as they support your RS-232 serial ports.
I'm glad I replaced my HSF modem at home with an external one after I
read your post. Plus I won't have to suffer from my computer suddenly
freezing because of the modem (rarely happens, but annoying if you're in
the middle of something and then your computer freezes-up).
