could you specify exactly how it is not working? ie: not starting, can't
connect, running but crashing, command not found, etc.

which configs were modified? and how exactly would you like the system
to be? ie: with or without anonymous connection? home folder access?

could it possibly be that you simply can't connect? maybe your iptables
config doesn't allow connection to port 21? maybe your ISP is blocking
port 21 as well.
