I posted this before but I guess it got lost in the traffic, so here goes.
Has anyone ever noticed this? When you start networking in RH 9.0
(# service network restart), and then run the route command, you end up
with a route like this:
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
169.254.0.0 * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
<snip!>
Apparenltly, the network 169.254.0.0 is owned by IANA. This route is
always set on RH 9 whenever networking starts, but I've been able to
delete the route and do my regular business without any problems. What's
the route for? Is it a bug?
God bless!
