You may try using WineX to run Ragnarok. WineX is a derivative, commercial product of WINE developed by Transgaming, specially designed for DirectX apps. However, it requires that your graphic card is an Nvidia TNT2, Geforce family, or later, and that Nvidia's hardware-accelerated driver is installed (not the default, generic driver that comes with plain Xfree) . I've read from reviews that it supports DirectX 8.1 games. If Ragnarok requires DirectX 9.0 then we're doomed to try running it in Linux. Here's more bad news. The software is commercial and subscription-based. Those with credit cards can download WineX for the minimum of 3 months at 5 USD per month. Money order people are obliged to subscribe for one year. The good news is that WineX from CVS can be downloaded and compiled for free. I hope Migs that you can share your expertise if you are able to compile WineX CVS.
