I used DRBD for database replication only.  I also considered using it
for everything, but it does things too meticulously.  For instance, when
your primary goes down, secondary takes over, and then  resume primary,
all drbd partitions are bound to resync (as in WHOLE partitions).  Since
syncing takes LAN  bandwidth, the more drbd partitions defined, the
longer it takes to resync.  Using a direct crossover cable connection
between my 2 servers only yields a total of 8-9Mbps transfer rate.  For
1 6GB partition it takes around 12mins to sync.  Also, afaik drbd only
replicates whole partitions and not particular directories.  Lastly, the
other system files I need replicated don't have to be updated in real
time anyway.

As far as database replication goes, I'm very very happy with DRBD. :)
