i wonder which is better for replicating databases... 
don't you think it would be better to use the replication engine 
of your DB server than to use a sync software? for example,
in some cases sync softwares tend to copy the whole binary instead 
of just copying a single row of info (GB of db vs. single row of db update).

but DRBD would be useful for DB replication especially when your
db server (ie. MySQL)  doesnt support replication of a table with 
an auto-increment column.

that's true. and that's why you have to place those directories on
your target partition.  =)
