Hey all,

I'm about to try gnokii and am just wondering whether anyone has
benchmarked its performance - like how many messages it can send at a
given amount of time. We are currently using a different app right now
and find it too slow at sending messages - averaging almost 17 seconds
for a 160 character message.

Your bottleneck is not gnokii, it's your phone and the GSM network.

about 5 seconds per send. i think you can trim that if you directly program in C and use the gnokii API. because if you call it from system() or a shell it needs to initiate connection, send the message, and close the connection, while if you look at gnokii's source you might be able to initiate a connection once, send many things, then close the connection.

haven't tried this though
