You might be shocked at how bad the situation is. A friend of mine was hiring some programmers and decided to give them some simple arithmetic aptitude tests. The guy who had a *BS Math diploma* (FEU or CEU or some other similar university) got only 2 out of 10 arithmetic questions write.
One of his answers was:
.34 * 100 = .3400
The punch line to the story is that my friend hired the guy!!! LOL!
Anyway, I only have 2 explanations: either that applicant had a fake diploma or the state of education is that dismal. If it's the latter, then I fail to see how one of the current presidential aspirants can put on a straight face, and run on a platform of claiming to have done 'something' for education. The sad truth about the quality of education in this country, everyone in this thread has already expounded upon.
