You could use dpkg, dpkg-deb or the very easy and convenient to use apt-get,
Just man dpkg, man dpkg-deb, or much better man apt-get, the debian distro
provides a decent explanation for the said commands, syntax and arguments, you
could get the hang of it in no time..(",)
