I've used Mandrake quite extensively, since around 7 to 9.2 at present, and I highly recommend it. It's an excellent distro for most personal desktop/office purposes, and there are a lot of Free Software alternatives for personal productivity, office tools, groupware, file-sharing, etc. For remote file access over a network, you'll find Samba to be more than satisfactory. A setup of scheduled/automated Samba mounts will work nicely. If you need network browsing or on-demand file retrieval/mounting tools, there's xfce's xfsamba and LinNeighborhood, and Nautilus can also be configured for that, and if you're a not a GUI person, there's always good ol' smbclient and smbmount. For network messaging, there's the LinPopUp winpopup client, gaim, etc. -- Paolo Vanni M.
