i was about to download this open-source clustering
(process-migration) software for Windows NT for
benchmarking purposes when i found out that the
software also have ports on different platforms
such as (MacOSX, Irix, Solaris, Redhat(Alpha,
IA32,IA64), Windows NT, Tru64, etc.)

the software is named "Condor" an HTC & not HPC.
(link = http://www.cs.wisc.edu/condor/ )
one of the beauty of this software is the ability
to migrate processes of applications w/o any
recompilation, although the apps would be more
efficient when recompiled with Condor's library.
but the best thing of all, is the ability to
migrate processes on different type of machines
(ie. Mixed NT & *nix).

hopefully on my test, i can tap some of the
computing power of the NT-based machines
instead of wasting their power on running
the windows screensaver. hehehehe.

besides, why would you like to cluster dissimilar
architectured machines? just curious.

no, i'm not planning to do that (yet).
what i was tasked to do was to implement
the same technique on a set of Alpha machines
and as well on Sparcs thereby having their
own set of cluster.
