Seems to be a recurring theme, the "notes to myself" thing.

I keep my notes to myself in $HOME/NOTES. Very accessible from vi.  :D

Quite true, it's their life. But many of the blogs I've been unfortunate 
enough to read seem... written for an audience. That's the conceit part. 

Hey, I don't mind Spolsky's blog, it's fantastic. But, few people are as 
authoritative as Spolsky.
