I'm having conflicting reports on this one. I tried
looking up the specifications on the SpeedStream (made by Efficient
Networks) and try to see its difference with the SpeedTouch (made by
Alcatel). Unfortunately, since these modems are softmodems,
they rely heavily on the firmware/microcode loaded onto them, so it isn't
just a simple matter of swapping one in/out and expecting any two
units to be identically the same. Unfortunately, Efficient
Networks no longer manufacturers these modems. *Grumble*

You're right Gino, PLDT is using these units.

This is in answer to the question about USB

DSL drivers for Linux.

There are drivers out there for the Alcatel

SpeedTouch USB. The

SpeedStream 4060 is actually made by Alcatel.

I have setup the SpeedTouch in RedHat 7.1 and

gotten it to

successfully work on my home network.

And with that, here's a link to Alcatel

SpeedTouch, though I haven't

tried it yet.

Hi Howard,

Why the DRAM is so small? i'm afraid that your flash
mem can handle higher
version of IOS, try to look for IOS specs in cisco
website. upgrading IOS is
very simple as long as your hardware is capable for
the IOS. remember that
the RAM is very important.

Glynn

Anyone, tried upgrading Cisco 2511's IOS 10.3 to a

higher version? I just
want

to know if Cisco 2511's 4MB Flash ROM and 1MB RAM

are still good for
upgrade.

By the way, my objective here is to use radius to

replace this old tacacs.

Your guiding words are highly appreciated.

Kumusta, Howard
