Hi all!

I have a question about named.

I've set up a small local network with a Red Hat 9.0 system as a DNS. It
works but sometimes it doesn't resolve local hostnames on the local
network. I "fixed" this by adding an A record to the local zone file,
specifying the IP address of the nameserver and by adding a "nameserver"
entry to /etc/resolv.conf.

It seems /etc/resolv.conf is overwritten whenever I connect to the
Internet (the server acts as our Internet gateway). is this normal? As far
as I know, I shouldn't have to enter the localhost's IP in
/etc/resolv.conf since the system should default to the localhost in the
absence of any nameserver entries.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance. God bless!
