I also noticed this issue with mozilla browsers. I checked with
Mozilla.org and it seems there a lot of IE specific web sites out there. 
It seems also that it is because of gecko engine used by mozilla. Other 
browsers that don't use the gecko engine will work fine this includes the 
Opera browser. If you use kde I think konqueror is als not based on
gecko i'm not sure though. I dont use kde.
