I agree, but the people who tend to be fit this description tend to be more on the pricey side. So the cliche "what you pay, is what you get" applies. Even with GUI-rich distributions like RedHat and Mandrake, there is always room for error. It would be much safer for both parties if you can establish a documented and standardized troubleshooting procedure to serve as a baseline. That way, if something goes down, you can be certain that the "basics" have been covered. A sysad's skills then comes out in how he approaches/fixes the problem beyond the "baseline." If you'd like peace of mind, you can look for "certified" Linux administrators at least. I think there are many RHCEs around. :) -- Gino LV.
