Hi,

Its this line on sendmail.cf:

# SMTP initial login message (old $e macro)
SmtpGreetingMessage=$j Sendmail $v/$Z; $b

where:
$j = Official canonical name
$v = The sendmail program's version
$Z = The version of the m4 configuration (m4 technique)
$b = The current date in RFC822 format

or if you prefer the macro-way, it's

define(`confSMTP_LOGIN_MSG',message)
