I am unhappy with the current situation.

A client has an existing lifetime domain that was registered in 1999 and they recently
asked me to move their site to another server. On the course of doing so I found out
that even if they have a lifetime domain I could not use the current web-based
configuration system of Dot.ph, the registrar. To be able to use their web-based
system they are asking for $70 to "upgrade" the service. If you don't upgrade then
you need to download and fax them a form but it will still cost you Php 1350.00. This
for me is very expensive just to have somebody type in a few numbers. Clearly, this
would not happen if Dot.ph has competition. So opting not to bow down to a monopoly I
got a new domain.
