Correction: hi ariz,
this is the error I received. when initrd is disable in the grub the error is: VFS: Cannot open device "LABEL=/" or unknown-block(0,0) Please append a correct "root=" boot option Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) when initrd is enable in the grub the error is: mount: error 19 mounting ext3 pivotroot: pivot_root(/sysroot,/sysroot/initrd) failed: 2 unmount /init/proc failed: 2 Freeing unused kernel memory:240k freed Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. this maybe just an error on my grub. I haven't thought of it much. I maybe have mistake in my way of creating the initrd-2.6.6. I use the command mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.6.img 2.6.6 while I am running on kernel 2.4. It is supposed to be mkinitrd -k vmlinux-VERSION -i initrd-VERSION in Suse. Maybe you could help me the syntax for that command in redhat. alben > On Friday 21 May 2004 18:04, Ariz C. Jacinto wrote: > > alben benavente alteza wrote: > > >...advised to use kernel 2.6.
