Hi Harvey, Scite from http://www.scintilla.org/SciTE.html is a good editor though it might not really be as "feature-rich" as the full IDEs. Works on linux and windows. Supports quite a number of languages/formats out of the box (c, java, python, xml, html, sql, css, lisp, erlang, assembler, matlab, etc...)
