I don't see why not. SCSI is usually recommended over IDE for
performance and reliability, but otherwise, pick which one you can
afford.

Nope. Doesn't make sense to mirror your cache. You might as well have
two separate cache directories, one on each drive. This way you have
more space, and you benefit from the parallel access to the drives.
