eth0 shouldn't have any IP addresses assigned to it. Or perhaps should have an IP address different from the static address given by the DSL modem. Your default route should have all packets to pass through ppp0. Check your default route settings.... Better yet if you have two network cards, where is second one is used for LAN, disable the eth0 for the meantime.
