I've encountered some problems connecting with my mandrake 10.1 hosts - transferring big files using scp or nfs would either be slow (on a 100Mbps line, it's taking 10 minutes or more to transfer a 700MB ISO image). Tried replacing the old NIC (realtek 8139) to tulip chipset and back and still the problem doesn't go away.
This problem doesn't manifest when I use HTTP or bittorrent as mode of transfer - transferring a 700MB ISO image just takes a couple of seconds using this mode. It's a workaround, but it's kinda annoying to run an HTTP server just to transfer files within the LAN (and I'm not considering running an FTP service anywhere anyway... :) I've yet to try the speeds using Samba... but since I only have 1 windows-based machine against all other machines running Linux there's not really much "economic incentive" for me to try it out... I'm not sure if anyone else has encountered this - I've had this problem ever since I tried out 10.1 CE. I'm already suspecting that changes in the Linux kernel are causing this - any hints on what tell-tale signs to look out for?
