OTOH, IIRC you can disable the journal on reiserfs at mount time,
allowing you to shred(1) files effectively. nolog is the option you're
looking for. On ext3, you might try mounting the volume as ext2
(disabling the journal), but I'm not sure if this works. The more
experienced PLUGgers should be able to correct me on this.
