I would recommend to ask your vendors to do an on-site
demonstration of their equipment (both the access
point and their NICs).  I recently had to cancel a PO
because the intended location has apparently lots of
noise interference -- I was only getting a <=50%
signal strength with less than 5 meters between the AP
and the PC using 802.11b.  At >5 meters, the
connection kept on going through a (re)connect-drop
cycle.
