There are several firmwares that you can use to upgrade your WRT54G.  The most 
popular are OpenWRT and Sveasoft.  If you use them then you can increase the 
power of your WRT.  You would be amazed what you can put inside a WRT.  You can 
even put the SIP Express Router SIP server on it:

IMHO, a Linksys WRT54G is the best buy for its adaptability.
