Ubuntu is a very good distro for a newbie. One of the simplest installs
that I have ever seen. However, you might want to look at xandros as
well, as ive been hearing that's its also a good introductory distro.
Or, if your pc is about mid-range, (anything over 600 mhz) you might
want to try a live cd first, like knoppix or slax (<- I love this one!)
or even ubuntu, as it also comes in a live cd. Read up on the different
distros at www.distrowatch.com.
