They're ARM-based, but both look like actually-viable smartphone
replacements so far, which isn't really something that exists in the
market right now.

There's also

which is x86 (Atom) but I don't know if anyone's succeeded with Linux.
The maker is also working on a 7" laptop that supposedly will Ubuntu
something something.
