Since my hard crashes are not unique to my system, and others found that changing to VB 5.2, I completely removed 5.0 and installed 5.2 from Oracle. I followed the instructions as best I could understand them--added a source (https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian) to get it. It runs now, but I had to revert to USB 1.0 in my guest settings for lack of extensions. I do not know if that restriction will be a limit for me or not.
My main concern is what happens with upgrades? I do not have a clue as to how this "contributed" source is compatible with the "official" packages from Ubuntu. The other question is why does my laptop continue to run VB 5.0 OK? -Denis On Mon, Feb 5, 2018 at 1:40 PM, Tomas Kuchta <[email protected]> wrote: > Looking at your response Dennis - you might not be using vBox extension in > your setup.
