Hello Rich Technically 99.99% of users will not have /etc mounted on a separate partition. Also, a missing /etc will not result in bash declaring "No such file or directory". Let's not muddy the waters with extraneous commentary. Ben and Dick went over this issue in great detail. Some of the emails did not go to the list however. They have reached the conclusion that something screwy happened when installed from the live Slackware environment (skipped a step, bug?)- which is Slackware64-current and can be a bit tricky and a moving target when starting out as a newcomer to Slackware. Also, the liveslak is a demo environment for the current development tree provided by a well known and skilled Slackware community member. Installation to a hard drive "should" work but is not something anyone should attempt not well versed in Slackware (or linux) internals. The best option is to install Slackware64-14.2, the latest stable release. Pointers to download locations have been provided. -Ed
