Simlarly, I'm using a Brother HLL2395DW, which replaced my ancient HP LaserJet just last August. It's got scanning and double-sided printing, plus wired and wifi interfaces. The consumables are reportedly priced reasonably, but I haven't needed any yet.
The caveat is that I use and manage it from MacOS and iOS devices. I haven't tried a SANE connection.
