Putting the PS1 line in a blank .bashrc file should do the trick

Here's mine:

#

# ~/.bashrc

#

# If not running interactively, don't do anything

[[ $- != *i* ]] && return

alias ls='ls --color=auto'

PS1='[\u@\h \W]\$ '

and here is my .bash_profile

#

# ~/.bash_profile

#

[[ -f ~/.bashrc ]] && . ~/.bashrc

I'll compare those to what I end up thinking I want. But now that I know what I have is normal, I probably won't change things. Mostly I was just trying to verify that something major was wrong with my Slackware install, since there have been some issues.

Thanks.
