Dick Depending on Laptop model, the power beep usually comes from the motherboard BIOS and not the operating system. You can either 1. mute the speaker (not really a good choice) 2. disable power beeps in BIOS. check for configuration entries like: Beepa and Alarms Power Beep etc -Ed
