I am in no way in love with Verizon, but given the amount of time you seem

Galen,

I've learned over the years that there are wide areas of eastern Oregon and
Washington, southeast Idaho, and all of northern Nevada further than 4 miles
from I-80 that are in 'radio-free' zones. Even with Verizon. Those areas are
where I used the sat phone when necessary. So rural coverage has always been
spotty for me and for others who live in these areas and use different
phones and carriers. For example, driving around Carlin, NV, is radio-free
even with Verizon.

FWIW, I have an unlocked Motorola G5+ which I use on Verizon.

Amazon shows used Moto X (4th gen), unlocked, for $103 and moto G6,
unlocked, for $127. (I don't require a brand-new one.)

Since the ARStechnica review ranked the Nokia 6.1 at the top of their list,
and I can find a virtual carrier that will save me money each month, I'll
probably buy a used, but like-new Nokia 6.1 from amazon.

Thanks so much again,

Rich
