I use rsync to backup data + btrfs snapshots to keep rolling backup history for a few months.
I do not backup OS because I build it using Ansible, so I can reliably and quickly reinstall computers including accounts and configuration. That way, I can easily upgrade or migrate to different HW. Like Russell, I do not see the point in using anything else. Unless of course you need to backup on tape and keep off-site inventory. Or something else complex like that.
