Hello

I am trying to determine the best course of action to fix a password authentication problem with the wireless router after a software update.

After the software update yesterday for openSuse Leap 15.0 (64 bit) OS, all of a sudden I could no longer connect with my WPA2-PSK wireless router.

The wpa_supplicant log shows the following when trying to connect (a password is asked for) :

1560974114.070337: wlan2: SME: Trying to authenticate with 74:31:70:03:95:e4 (SSID='Puma_Bear' freq=2417 MHz) 1560974114.097852: wlan2: Trying to associate with 74:31:70:03:95:e4 (SSID='Puma_Bear' freq=2417 MHz)

1560974337.605744: nl80211: deinit ifname=wlan2 disabled_11b_rates=0

Careful reading of internet information shows that the error line "Failed to set GTK to the driver" is a problem with password authentication and/or setting.

The wireless driver is nl80211

I tried the modprobe command to load up possible wlan modules, thinking that perhaps the problem was a missing kernel module, but so far that did not solve the problem.

What would be a reasonable action?

1. Get onto the appropriate openSuse forum and ask around?
2. Try to undo the software update? (this might be very difficult since kernel changes occurred) 3. Try to troubleshoot the wpa_supplicant program and dump a trail of results?

The password for the router has not been changed, and it works okay with another machine upon authenticating with the WPA2-PSK password, so I have to assume that the problem is perhaps in the linux 4.12.14 Leap 150.12.64 kernel missing the appropriate crypt module for wireless service?

Thanks for any comments or observations.
