Is ~/mail is a directory or a file? I assume the former. If so, do you have the MAILDIR variable defined?

Paul,

A directory. I understand that maildir keeps each message as a separate file
while mbox keeps messages in topic-specific files. So
~/mail/spatial-analyses is the file where those messages should go

MAILDIR=$HOME/mail

MAILDIR=$HOME/mail
DEFAULT=/var/spool/mail/rshepard
ORGMAIL=/var/spool/mail/rshepard
LOGFILE=$PMDIR/log

Currently messages to [email protected] are the only ones where
procmail cannot write to the proper folder/filename.

The first thing I'd do is check your procmailrc syntax. In this thread's origin message, you wrote:

:0;
* [GRASS-user]
#* ^List-Id:.*<grass-user\.lists\.osgeo\.org>
#* ^(From|Cc|To).*osgeo\.org
spatial-analyses

You said you fixed the regex, but the trailing semi-colon on the first line doesn't pass muster -- though I cannot predict what problem(s) it may cause.

Later in that original post, you wrote:

* ^(From|Cc|To).*sqlite\.org
SQL

You need to have a leading ":0" or ":0 :" to make that a real rule.
