So when you start a program, isn't there some button on your screen that
was created by starting the program?
No. I use only the panel. It has 6 launchers (with multiple
applications on
each one) and the shutdown/blank screen applications.
I have two "panels", numbered 0 and 1. Last I was able to confirm it,
Panel 0 is at the top of the screen, and Panel 1 is at the bottom. I
have seven launchers in the bottom panel. They include opening a
Terminal, Thunderbird, Firefox, Gigolo, VirtualBox, Audacity, and one
that I think is called Places, which lets me open a Thunar instance of a
specific directory.
Panel 0 is where a button goes when I click on one of the buttons in
Panel 1. It also has a notification bell, a way to look at what network
connections I have, access to the power manager, an audio button
providing access to a level control, and the clock/calendar. I have a
feeling that that last group is part of something different from the
first group on the top line, but I don't know for sure.
