Argh. The whole power supply thing was me wondering aloud if there's some correlation, which apparently was misunderstood to mean I was sure that having a good power supply was the solution. That wasn't my intention; sorry for the confusion. My real point was that for a home user, having to replace "10 hard drives in a year" is exaggerated. So, I wondered what other factors might be causing him to have such frequent failure, and the whole power supply thing dawned on me as a possibility. And it turned out he was talking about at an ISP while I was referring to home use. That's all.
