The driver basically doesn't deal properly with out-of-memory
conditions.  Rather than swapping textures out to RAM, it just drops
them.

The latest betas of Beryl do have a very much improved configuration
utility.  It's almost usable.  Still a bit incomprehensible, though.
But certainly check it out.
