This did it--I now have several options in the Screen Resolutions dialog.

Try the System->Preferences->Screens and Graphics dialog. That'll allow
you to specify the type of screen(s) you have. Once that is set
correctly, you should have the correct range of options available in the
Screen Resolution dialog.
