Doran is right about being skittish about connecting-to-your-database-as-root. However, that is completely unrelated to using PostgreSQL vs MySQL. No applications should ever connect as root. root should only be used to manage users/permissions. He may also be right about the being skittish about the Oracle buyout too. I know I am worried. :( Back to phpmyadmin. Don't put the root password in the config file! Eeek! Bad touch, bad, bad. Either create a new user with just enough permissions to accomplish your goals, or at the very least leave phpmyadmin to prompt you for user and password information. Or bettter, do both. Use a new user that you enter every time you connect with phpmyadmin. --lonnie /* PLUG: http://plug.org, #utah on irc.freenode.net Unsubscribe: http://plug.org/mailman/options/plug Don't fear the penguin. */
