Speaking of swap files, what about history files, meta data, etc.

bash, less, and vim seem to store some histories. if your bash
settings are setup right, a space before any command doesn't get
stored in the history, or the history file.

There was a script kiddie tool I saw years ago that's a "smash and
grab" for fetchmailrc, and what ever other easy passwords to fetch off
the user account. So there are plenty of angles of exposure. I try
to use a unique password for everything, but I can really only
remember about 10-20 common ones. If one is exposed, everything I use
is less vulurnable this way. Any additional thoughts on keeping these
areas more secure too?

Lonnie, was "passphrase" at arosnet based on an inhouse util, or
something else? I might have a backup of it "somehwere" in my many
terrabytes of wasteland heh heh.

Cheers
