I use Digikam too and I like it. My (non-technical) wife is even
satisfied with it. I was not aware of this metadata option though, but
it does sound worth investigating. It might be worth noting that I use
two different versions (0.9 and 1.1 I think) and have never had a
problem using the same photo archive for both.
